Nintendo announced earlier in the week that Satoru Iwata, CEO of Nintendo, had passed away on Saturday 11th July after a battle with cancer lasting over a year.
Satoru was responsible for many things during his time as president of Nintendo including being instrumental in the development of the DS and Wii. Before that he worked at HAL Labs and did some amazing things like programmed Earthbound from scratch, ported the battle code of Pokemon Stadium to the N64 without any reference documents and figured out how to compress an entire game down (when other developers had given up) so they could fit an extra character in Pokemon Gold and Silver.
He was a Gamer first, everything else second and he'll be sorely missed by the industry and us personally at Control Blast. He's given us countless hours of gaming fun both directly and indirectly and will be remembered for a long long time.
